Chennai: The state government should take steps to clear pending issues in the Aarooran sugar mill in Thanjavur so that the farmers would get their pending cane dues, said PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, according reports The Times of India.
He issued a statement stating that the mill had become bankrupt in 2018-19 and had borrowed a loan worth Rs 450 crore in the name of farmers in Thanjavur and Cuddalore. The banks are now forcing farmers to pay the debt and the government should intervene and ensure that the issue is resolved and farmers are relieved from the burden, he said.
