Meerut: Sugarcane farmers in the region are worried as the CO-238 variety of sugarcane crops is being infected by the red rot disease, reports Live Hindustan.
The officials of the sugar mills from the region are finding ways to control the spread of the disease and are urging farmers to stay away from cultivating the CO-238 cane variety.
Pramod Baliyan, senior chief manager (sugarcane & administration) and other officials inspected the infected cane crops in the neighboring villages in the sugar mill jurisdiction. He instructed farmers to take steps to prevent the spread of the disease and spray insecticides to keep check on their spread.
