Collector assures no fresh notices will be served to sugarcane farmers

Thanjavur: District Collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver has assured no bank notices will be issued to the cane farmers attached to erstwhile private sugar mill at Thirumandakudi, reports The Hindu.

He assured farmers in a tripartite meeting organized on October 7 that the issue will be sorted out by the new management which has taken over the administration of the defunct mill. The previous management had availed loans in the name of farmers and had not paid the loan.

According to the media report, Collector said no notices will be issued to the sugarcane farmers, until a solution is thrashed out between the bank and the new management which had taken over the administration of the defunct mill over the loans availed by the former management.
