Commerce and Industry Ministry asks exporters’ to give inputs on reducing compliance burden: Media Report

New Delhi: The Commerce and Industry Ministry has reached out to export promotion councils and other industry bodies, seeking specific inputs on measures to reduce regulatory compliances and further streamline processes, reported The Hindubusiness Line.

As per media report, according to sources familiar with the matter, this initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing the ease of doing business and consistently minimizing the compliance burden for a more conducive business environment.

Inputs have been sought from export bodies on various aspects, including the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Customs authorities, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. Once received, the government will process these inputs to modify policies and procedures accordingly.

“We are giving our suggestions on what processes can be further simplified. We are identifying areas where self-certification can be applied and where lesser documentation can be implemented,” noted an official from an exporters’ body.
