Compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre for crop damaged due to floods in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced the compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre to the farmers for the crop damage due to heavy rainfall in the state, reports Daily Pioneer.

The assessment of the damaged crops will be done after July as the sowing of some crops can be done again till July 31, said Khattar addressing a press conference.

The compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre will be given for 100% loss of crops and we are expecting some financial assistance from the centre, he said.

He said that sugarcane crops have not been damaged severely as per the initial estimates and the water would recede from the fields after rain stops, stating that crops grown over 18,000 acres have been damaged due to heavy rains and floods in the state.

Haryana and neighbouring states received heavy rainfall from July 8 to 19, creating a flood-like situation in the state. The government has declared 12 districts flood-affected.
