Havana: Cuba is working on plan to increase sugar production by running 24 mills in 11 provinces with full efficiency, reports local media.
The Azcuba Business Group informed that as many as 35 mills are expected to participate in the harvesting activities in February.
The “14 de Julio” sugar mill in Cienfuegos, located around 350 km southeast of Havana began sugarcane harvesting in the country.
Last week, the “Circo Redondo” mill began operations in Ciego de Avilla, located in central Cuba. The mills are operating in adverse conditions like lack of fuel and other resources. It is expected that around 911,000 tons of sugar are expected to be produced by these 30 sugar mills.
