Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices were stable to higher

Domestic sugar prices were reported stable to higher across the markets after a slight rise during yesterday session. Prices were reported steady over Maharashtra and Karnatak while reported higher by Rs 10-20 per quintal over Uttar Pradesh and other Nortn Indian states. According to market participants, demand is good because there is a lower quota this month and summer is peaking. However, despite the lower monthly quota when compared to the last two seasons prices are not increasing as per the market anticipations.

S-grade sugar in Kolhapur ranges in price from Rs 3,780 to Rs 3,830 per quintal, whereas M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar costs between Rs 4,020 and Rs 4,070.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $540.90 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 19.16c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 456-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.78000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.468 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.7045 Crude WTI traded at $70.91 barrel. Sensex closed 592.93 points up at 76617.44 whereas Nifty closed 166.65 points higher at 23332.35
