Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were reported stable
After trading higher for 2-3 sessions, prices for sugar in the major domestic markets were reported to be stable for the second session. Prices are at their lowest level in two months, which is supporting the prices over the last 3 to 4 sessions.
India has produced approximately 254.97 lakh tonnes of sugar, with around 38 sugar mills still operational as of April 15, Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufacturers Association said in a statement Thursday. Around 22 factories are still operational in Uttar Pradesh. Out of which around 16 factories are operating in West UP.
S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,770 and Rs 3,820 per quintal in Kolhapur and M-grade sugar ranges between Rs 4,010 and Rs 4,090 in Muzaffarnagar.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $496.90 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 17.86 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 482-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.77000s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.407 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.8802 Crude WTI traded at $63.35 barrel. Sensex closed 1,508.91 points up at 78,553.20 whereas Nifty closed 414.45 points higher at 23,851.65
