Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices continue to remain stable

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be stable for the second session of the week, after rising sharply in the first three. Demand is reported to be strong, keeping prices supported at higher levels. According to sources, sellers are less active as prices have rallied sharply, indicating lower liquidity in the open market.

In Muzaffarnagar, M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,840 and Rs 3,900 per quintal, while S-grade costs between Rs 3,590 and Rs 3,660 in Kolhapur. Agrimandi predicts that in the coming days, the price of S-grade sugar in Kolhapur will fall to between Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,650 per quintal.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $577.80 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 22.42 c/lb.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 83.552 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.4333, Crude futures traded at ₹5938, Crude WTI traded at $70.85 barrel. Sensex closed 1359.51 points higher at 84544.31 whereas Nifty closed 375.15 points higher at 25790.95
