Weak sentiment witnessed in domestic sugar prices
Sluggish demand continues to weigh on domestic sugar prices in the major spot markets. Prices were reported lower by Rs 10-20 per quintal across the markets. Prices are trading at a two-month low due to weak demand. Demand is said to be weak, particularly among bulk buyers, which is weighing on prices. Despite lower production and monthly quotas, subdued demand has kept prices in the lower two-month range.
On export front, parity is turned to negative with the recent fall in global prices coupled with stronger INR. However, as most of the quantity are contracted above $520 per MT, most of the sugar is likely to ship by mid June i.e., before the onset of monsoon over Maharashtra.
S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,730 and Rs 3,790 per quintal in Kolhapur and M-grade sugar ranges between Rs 3,970 and Rs 4,070 in Muzaffarnagar.
