Weak sentiment reported in Domestic sugar prices
Domestic sugar prices in the major markets traded lower on higher quota than expected. Market participants were expecting a quota of 25.0 lakh tons but, the Food Ministry has released a quota of 27.0 lakh tons for the month of May 2024, which is 2.0 lakh tons higher than in April 2024 and 3.0 lakh tons higher than the same month last year.
In Muzaffarnagar, M-grade sugar ranged between Rs 3,850 and Rs 3,870 per quintal, whereas S-grade sugar is trading between Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,540. Agrimandi expects the price of S grade sugar in the Kolhapur market to fall to between Rs 3,460 and Rs 3,580 per quintal within the next two weeks.
