Domestic Market

Steady to weak sentiment witnessed in Domestic sugar prices

Domestic sugar prices in major markets were reported to be mixed, with Muzaffarnagar falling while Kolhapur remained stable. In Muzaffarnagar, prices fell by Rs 10 per quintal. Stock liquidation, with the next month’s quota set to be announced early next week, is weighing on prices. The allocation for the month of June is expected to be around 25.0 lakh tons, up 1.5 lakh tons from the same period last year.

In Muzaffarnagar, M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,880 and Rs 3,900 per quintal, while S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,580 and Rs 3,620 per quintal in Kolhapur. Agrimandi expects the price of S grade sugar in the Kolhapur market to fall in the next two weeks to between Rs 3,540 and Rs 3,660 per quintal.

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 83.132 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.1686, Crude futures traded at ₹6511, Crude WTI traded at $78.23 barrel. Sensex closed 19.89 points lower at 75390.50 whereas Nifty closed 24.65 points lower at 22932.45
