Kolhapur: Sugarcane cultivation is likely to be affected due to a delay in rainfall this season in the state, reports Agrowon.
As the monsoon has been delayed, the water level in the rivers flowing in the state has been depleted which impacts agricultural activities. Farmers are finding it difficult to irrigate water-intensive crops like sugarcane which has affected the growth of the crops.
The lack of pre-monsoon showers has affected the schedule of spraying fertilizers on crops and the frequent power cuts due to less production of electricity owing to the depleting level of water in the dams have affected farmers as they could not irrigate cane crops.
