Lucknow: A meeting was organized in the auditorium of the Cane Commissioner’s office today with the fifteen member delegation of Karnataka State that came on study tour and senior officers of the Headquarters in the cane Development Department. This meeting was presided over by Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and cane Development Department, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy.
Addressing the delegation, Shri Bhoosreddy said that continuous hard work has been done by the Cane Development Department in favor of its stakeholders and as a result of which the department has established historical records in the field of cane price payment, cane crushing, sugar production, sugar recovery etc. have been acheived. He apprised the delegation about the revolutionary changes in the field of Escrow Account, ERP, Khandsari, Farm Machinery Bank etc. and also about the facts related to continuous operation of sugar industry during Covid-19 and also took information from the delegation about the sugar industry in Karnataka state.
In the meeting, the members of the delegation discussed the technical challenges being faced by the sugar industry in the state of Karnataka, limitations of practical knowledge, research, difficulties being faced in cane transportation etc. The delegation also obtain detailed Information after discussing, regarding development policy of cane industry and State-advisory pricing process, crop insurance, working system of cooperative cane development societies, e-ganna app, cane research etc.
In the fifteen member delegation of Karnataka comprised of 02 officials of the Government of Karnataka, 06 nominated members of Sugarcane Control Board and 07 members of the Governing Council of Nijalingappa Sugar Institute, Belagavi, Karnataka. Out of these members mainly Shri N.R. Yekeli, head of the Agriculture Division of Nijalingappa Sugar Institute, Shri Ashok Patil, Vice President of Nijalingappa Sugar Institute, Shri K. Shantakumar, President of Indian Sugar Cane Farmers Association and other representatives, Shri Venkatesh, V.H. Vidai, Krishna kanta Reddy, Shri Ramesh Annappa etc. expressed their views.
The Additional Cane Commissioner, Headquarters Shri YS Malik, told about, cane crop management, crop insurance during the natural calamities etc, Additional Cane Commissioner Shri R.P. Yadav, Shri V.K. Shukla also expressed their views. Presentation was given Joint Cane Commissioner Societies Shri V.B. Singh on the operation of cooperative cane development societies and Shri Vishwesh Kanojia on U.P. Cane Supply and Purchase Regulation Act and related rules. In the meeting, the Secretary General, Sugarmills Association, Shri Deepak Guptara and his colleague Shri W.H. Zaidi and Shri Anand Tripathi also participated.
