Demand to make Sanjivani sugar mill’s revival plan public

Panaji, Goa: Sugarcane farmers associated with the Sanjivani sugar mill have been cheated, alleged Trinamool Congress general secretary Rakhi Prabhudesai, reports The Times of India.

She has questioned the role of the Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee and its chief Narendra Sawaikar and demanded that he should make public his report on the revival plan for Sanjivani sugar mill and the efforts to setup an ethanol manufacturing plant in place of the sugar mill at Dharbandora.

The government had promised farmers to pay compensation for five years but after three years they are not getting the compensation, she said. They were promised that they will get compensation irrespective of whether they cultivated cane or not but the government is not following the promise it made during the closure of the sugar mill, she said.
