District administration initiates review of crop damage due to unseasonal rain

Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: The Pilibhit district administration has initiated the process to review the damage of the crop damaged during the recent heavy rainfall, reports The Times of India.

A review committee has been constituted by the district agriculture officer Dr Vinod Yadav that will assess the damaged crops.

The district agriculture department, revenue department and crop insurance company have formed one committee each for the seven-block areas. These committees will submit their reports to the district magistrate within a week.

According to farmers, sugarcane crops sown on 37,500 hectares have been completely spoiled apart from damage to the standing wheat, rapeseed-mustard and lentil crops.

Dr Shailendra Singh Dhaka, a scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) said that wheat grain crops will be affected due to excessive moisture and logging leading to an overall loss of up to 30 to 35%.
