Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh): The district administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur is stern over pending sugarcane arrears. Authorities have issued a warning to sugar mills to pay farmers their dues promptly, reported Dainik Bhaskar.
During a review meeting on sugar payment and preparations for the new sugarcane season, it was discussed that the Balrampur and Tulsipur sugar mills have made full payments to sugarcane farmers for the 2022-23 season. However, Itaimaida sugar mill has only made a payment of 38.36 percent. Expressing dissatisfaction with this, the District Magistrate (DM) issued strict instructions to Sanjeev Sharma, the Mahaprabandhak (head) of the Itaimaida sugar mill, to expedite the pending sugarcane payment; otherwise, stringent action will be taken.
Regarding the repairing and maintenance work of sugar mills, it was noted that Balrampur sugar mill has completed 75 per cent, Tulsipur 71.75 per cent, and Itaimaida 65 per cent.
The DM directed representatives from all sugar mills to ensure the timely completion of repair and maintenance work and the smooth operation of crushing operations. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Santosh Ojha, District Cane Officer Ranjeet Kushwaha, and the Mahaprabandhaks (heads) of the sugar mills.
