Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: District Magistrate Ramakant Pandey has warned the sugar mills to clear the pending cane arrears of the sugarcane farmers on time or else be ready to face the action. He issued the warning in the meeting that was convened to take a review of the status of the sugarcane payment.
According to the news report published in Amar Ujala, DM reprimanded officials of sugar mills which failed to clear pending dues as discussed last weak. He asked mills to clear dues next week. Negligence in sugarcane payment will not be tolerated. Pay on time or be ready for action.
Government is closely monitoring the daily cane payments by sugar mills. Also, instructions have been issued to take action against sugar mills if they fail to clear cane dues. Sugarcane farmers claim they are reeling under financial burden due to a delay in cane payments.
The lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has also affected many sugar mills across India. Mills were unable to sell the sugar amid lockdown, due to which sugar stocks piled up in godown. Lack of finance has also affected the mills to clear cane arrears.
