Puducherry: The DMK has called on the Government of India to resolve various longstanding demands of the Union Territory.
A delegation from the DMK, headed by R. Siva, the party convenor and Opposition leader, met with Home Secretary Govind Mohan to present a memorandum.
The DMK has also requested specific initiatives to revitalize industries, particularly the closed legacy institutions such as Anglo-French Textiles, Swadeshi and Bharathi Cotton Mills, and the Cooperative Sugar Mill in Lingareddipalayam.
According to DMK, sugar mill revival would play a key role in boosting the economic growth of the region.
