Gurugram-based agro scientist has been chosen for the Padma Shri award for his work in the field of sugarcane sector and developing high-yielding variety.
Dr. Bakshi Ram has played a major role in developing the sugarcane variety CO-0238 which occupies over 70% of the sugarcane area in Northern India.
After retiring from the post of Director, at Coimbatore ICAR Sugarcane Breeding Institute, he currently works as a consultant in several sugar mills and played a major role in the welfare of the sugarcane farmers.
