In the inaugural session of the International Conference & Sugar Expo on the topic “Sugar Industry- Modernization & Diversification for Sustainability,” jointly organized by the National Sugar Institute and UP Sugar Mills Association, 10 distinguished alumni were conferred the “Sharkarshri” award, while the “Excellence Award” was given to six eminent personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Indian sugar industry.
Dr. Rajeev Vasant Dani, an alumnus of the institute, was also conferred with the Sharkarshri award in recognition of his continuous exemplary service to the sugar industry.
Dr. Rajeev Vasant Dani after completing Associateship of National Sugar Institute in 1981, did Ph.D from SRTM, University, Nanded. He has more then 40 years of experience in the sugar industry & is currently working as Head & Technical Advisor, Sugar Technology Department, VSI, Pune.
Dr. Rajeev Vasant Dani has visited many sugar producing countries for delivering Lectures & conducting training programmes. He has published more then 100 research papers and has been conferred version prestigious awards, some of them being, Best Scientist VSI, Life Time Achievement Award from STAI & DSTA.
