EID Parry India Ltd. will set up a distillery plant at its Sankili unit in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the news report published in Thehindu.com, the company informed the regulator that it has approved the Rs 92.5 crore project and the funds required for setting up the plant would be met through borrowings.
It will have a capacity of 120 kilo litre per day. The decision has been taken keeping in view the central government’s plan to blend 20 per cent ethanol by 2025.
The raw material for the proposed distillery would be sugarcane juice or syrup which will be made available during cane crushing season, said Company.
The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
