Ethanol-based Yamaha FZ-15 launched in Brazil, likely to roll out in India next year

A new model of Yamaha FZ-15 motorcycle that can run on both ethanol as well as petrol has been launched in the Brazilian market. The company has made several changes in its design and exterior to look fresher.

In the South American country, the bike is known by the name Fazer FZ-15 and in the updated avatar it would be introduced in India as FZ V3, reported TimesDrive.

According to the media reports, yet there is no official confirmation from the company when it would be launched in India but it is likely to be roll out in 2023.

In India, sugar industry bodies are advocating for the introduction of Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFVs). Indian Sugar Mills Association(ISMA) had earlier urged that to achieve 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2025, steps should be taken to ensure that the FFVs is launched in the country soon.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on flex fuel engine. To give a push for achieving ethanol blending target, the company has commenced work on an E85 capable (85 percent ethanol) engine. Also, carmaker’s model range will be E20-compliant by April 2023.
