Guwahati: Assam has become the second state in the country to approve the ethanol production policy. Chandra Mohan Patowary, Assam’s industry and commerce minister on Thursday said that the State Cabinet has approved the Assam Ethanol Production Promotion Policy, 2021.
While addressing a press conference, he said that the government has approved the Assam Ethanol Production Promotion Policy 2021. The policy will increase ethanol production in the state. The standalone green-field ethanol producing industrial units will be provided incentives under the policy. Assam is the second state in the country to approve such policy and it shall be valid up to March 31, 2026.”
The policy will help in increasing farmers’ income and provide a suitable environment for attracting investment in the state, he said.
The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
