Ethanol manufacturing factory to be set up in Velgatoor

Warangal: The state government is setting up an ethanol factory on over 110 acres of land on the outskirts of Sthambhampalli village in Velgatoor Mandal by spending Rs 100 crore, reports Deccan Chronicle. The Welfare minister Koppula Eshwar laid the foundation stone of the factory recently.

The factory will generate employment opportunities for the people of the Dharmapuri constituency, said the minister.

However, the people of villages surrounding the ethanol factory site have launched a road blockade and staging dharnas opposing the government’s move stating that this would cause health complications and would pollute air, water and soil in the region.

T. Jeevan Reddy, Congress party MLC has alleged that the BRS government is playing with the lives of the people by setting up this factory.

The police force has been deployed in the area to keep the situation under control.

Eshwar maintains that such an attitude of Jeevan Reddy will mean loss of opportunities for people of Dharmapuri. The minister said that does any government take up a project without putting in place safety measures beforehand, keeping in view interests of people of that region.
