In line with the Government of India’s E20 blending policy, and ensuring a sustainable future, Nanda Devi Bio Energy LLP is establishing a 160 klpd grain-based ethanol distillery at Gangaikondan SIPCOT, Tirunelveli District. The plant is expected to produce 5.28 Crore liters of ethanol per annum using Rice and Maize. This plant is the first grain-based ethanol project being developed in South Tamilnadu, which will help in achieving the blending target of Oil Marketing Companies depot located in the vicinity. This project is set to offset the high transportation cost incurred by the OMCs for ethanol blending at Depots located at Tirunelveli and Madurai Region.
The project is in advanced stage of execution and is expected to be commissioned by August 2024. The main process plant is being executed by PRAJ industries, Boiler supplied by Thermax, Turbine by SIEMENS and all other packages by prominent players in the respective field. The project is set to generate direct employment for around 150 personnel and another 300 personnel indirect employment.
Today (05/07/2024) the company signed a Long-Term Offtake Agreement (LTOA) with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in an official meeting at the HPCL, Zonal office at Chennai. As per the agreement Nanda Devi Bio Energy LLP will supply 5.28 Crore liters of Ethanol per annum to the OMCs and the same will be procured by them as per the notified price. This agreement is set to be a mutually beneficial arrangement for the OMC and the company.
The agreement was signed by Shri. V. S. Natarajan, Chairman, Nanda Devi Bio Energy LLP a first-generation entrepreneur on behalf of the company and Shri. Ramadoss, General Manager (Distribution), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on behalf of OMCs.
Shri. V. S. Natarajan, a native of Tirunelveli District, is a well-known personality in glass bottle manufacturing business. Executive Director, Nanda Devi Bio Energy LLP Smt. N. Vasantha Devi Mahendra Kumar, who is overseeing the project execution was also present on the occasion. The group has got bigger plans of venturing into Solar Power Generation business and additional ethanol capacity projects also.
