Yamunanagar, Haryana: Sugarcane farmers have urged the state government to ensure that sugar mills clear cane arrears. According to the news report published in Tribuneindia.com, farmer leader Satpal Kaushik said, “Crushing season has ended a few months ago, but mills have not cleared the cane dues yet. Due to which cane growers are suffering. The government must take steps to ensure farmers get their pending cane arrears soon.”
He also demanded an increase in sugarcane price in the upcoming cane crushing season. Farmer leader said, “Prices of pesticides, fertilisers, and labour charges have almost doubled in the past few years. Therefore, the government should announce an increase of Rs 50 per quintal in sugarcane rates.”
