Pune: Farmer leader and former MP Raju Shetti has raised his voice against the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) paid by mills in installments to the farmers. He met Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad in Pune on Wednesday, and asked for a one-time payment of FRP and sought transparency in recovery loss due to ethanol production.
He demanded a technical audit of ethanol-producing mills by reputed institutions like the IITs.
According to the news report published in indianexpress.com, except mills in Kolhapur district, others are paying sugarcane FRP in instalments. Before the commencement of the crushing season, mills had made cane growers sign a form in which they had agreed about payment of FRP in installments.
