Amroha, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Rashtriya Lok Dal demonstrated outside the office of DM demanding the government to announce sugarcane prices for the ongoing crushing season, reports Amar Ujala.
Farmers and party activists under the leadership of district unit head Manveer Singh Chikara reached the district collectorate and launched a sit-in agitation shouting slogans against the government.
Three months have passed since the start of crushing operations but the government has not yet announced the cane price which is against the cane farmers, said the agitators. Government should take immediate steps and announce the cane price for the ongoing crushing season, they said.
A memorandum of the demands addressed to the chief minister was handed over to the concerned authorities before concluding the agitation.
