Farmers and ethanol plant representatives meet over manufacturing units

Hyderabad: Farmers and representatives of ethanol plants met with the Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission at BRK Bhavan to discuss the impact of ethanol production on local communities, reported Siasat Daily. Farmers expressed concerns about these manufacturing units, while plant representatives argued that high production costs make it difficult to consider shutting down.

The ethanol units in question are located in Chittanur village in Marikal mandal of the Narayanpet district and Dilawarpur in Nirmal district. The opposing and presenting parties appeared before the commission’s chairman, M. Kondanda Reddy, who assured them that he would visit the affected villages to get a firsthand feel of the situation. The meeting was accompanied by officials from the agriculture department, pollution control board, and industries department.
