Mumbai: Swabhimani Shetakri Sanghatana has warned the state government over the centre’s proposal to pay fair and remunerative price (FRP) in installments to the farmers.
A high level committee constituted by the centre to look into the recommendations made by the Niti Aayog to pay FRP in installments has asked the state governments to submit their suggestions on this issue. Gujarat follows this model for making cane payments to farmers.
According to the news report published in Financial Express, SSS leader Raju Shetty said, “The Centre has called for suggestions from the state governments. The state government has also constituted a panel to study this issue. However, the committee does not have any farmer representatives.”
He said that his organisation will be forced to take action and come down on the streets if the state government submits suggestions in favor of the recommendations made by the Niti Aayog.
