Sugarcane farmers can increase their income by following modern techniques, said agricultural experts, reports Amar Ujala.
The experts were speaking at a programme jointly organised by the Iqbalpur sugarcane development conference and Sugarcane Farmers Institute & Training Centre, Kashipur. They urged farmers to focus on modern farming techniques rather than traditional farming.
Dr. Siddharth Kashyap of Sugarcane Research Centre, Kashipur said that cane farmers should focus on growing new cane varieties other than CO-0238 to increase productivity.
Dr Purshottam Kumar of Agri Science Centre, Dhanori provided information about diseases in cane crops and how to tackle them. Rajiv Kumar, Sugarcane development inspector, Iqubalpur informed farmers about crop management and Omveer Sinh Saini of IFFCO shared information about different types of fertilizers farmers should use to increase cane output.
