Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of the Kisan Union have decided not to supply cane to the Shamali sugar mill as it has not cleared their pending cane dues in time, reports Live Hindustan.
A meeting of the farmers was convened in Lilaun village during which they took this decision.
The sugar mill owes dues worth Rs 264 crore to the cane farmers. The delay in cane payment has increased their stress to clear financial liabilities. They have demanded the government provide them with centers to sell cane to Khatauli and Titawi sugar mills.
