Roorkee: Sugarcane farmers in the region are angry at the government for not hiking sugarcane prices and fixing the last year’s cane prices for this year also, reports Live Hindustan Times,
There are three sugar mills in the district namely Laxar, Iqbalpur and Libberheri. Cane crushing season began in November 2022 and the mills are paying farmers’ cane bills as per the last year’s rates (Rs 345 for normal and Rs 355 for late variety). Now the government has fixed the same rate for this season and farmers are not happy with the government‘s decision.
