Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers have raised the demand to provide additional cane purchase centres for the Uttar Sugar Mill, reports Live Hindustan.
The demand was raised during the annual meeting of the Cooperative sugarcane development committee.
During the meeting, farmers said that the Unn sugar mill has not cleared their cane dues and they will not send their cane to the mill this season. The farmers stated that they would send their cane to the Uttam sugar mill and the administration should allot additional cane purchase centres to the mill for this purpose.
Farmers alleged that the issue of pending cane dues has increased their financial problems and they are determined to sell their cane to other mills.
