Bisalpur: VM Singh, leader of the Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, has promised that all eight demands of the farmers including immediate payment of sugarcane dues with interest from sugar mills will be addressed with respect.
Speaking as the chief guest at a farmers’ mahapanchayat held in the mandi premises, Singh assured that there would be no compromise on fulfilling the demands. He met with the protesters, who had been sitting on a dharna for the past five days, and discussed their concerns in detail.
Following the discussions, Singh spoke with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahipal Singh at the protest site regarding the issues. Local leaders of the farmers’ organization, in Singh’s presence, handed over an eight-point memorandum to the SDM.
The protesters had been sitting in the mandi premises since August 30 to press for these demands. During the event, the SDM assured VM Singh that he would make every effort to address the issues within his capacity. He also promised to submit a report to District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh on Thursday morning regarding the demands.
VM Singh informed the protesters that if the demands were still not met, he would personally lead the local people to Pilibhit in buses to meet with the District Magistrate. If the issues remain unresolved even after that, Singh vowed to resume the protest.
Addressing the mahapanchayat, Singh encouraged the farmers to continue fighting for their rights and assured them of his full support.
