Farmers get information about increasing cane output at a seminar

Bilari: Sugarcane farmers were informed about several ways to increase the productivity of sugarcane in a seminar organised by the Sugarcane Development Department and the sugar mill. The seminar was organised in Pahadpur village, reports Live Hindustan.

Experts including Dr Sujit Singh, a sugarcane disease specialist from the Sugarcane Research Institute in Shahjahanpur, and Dr Arvind Singh, a plant breeding scientist, along with Subhash Khokhar, Vice President of the sugar mill, and Senior Sugarcane Manager Sanjeev Kumar, provided detailed information to the farmers about diseases affecting sugarcane and their prevention.

Dr Arvind Singh informed farmers about the red rot disease in sugarcane, its outbreak, treatment through pesticide spraying, and preventive measures. Farmers were advised on seed replacement and introduced to new varieties as alternatives. Subhash Khokhar, Vice President of the sugar mill, explained the schemes being operated by the sugar mill and the department to the farmers.

Sanjeev Kumar, Sugarcane Manager, advised farmers on the balanced use of fertilizers and nutrients. He also encouraged all farmers to prepare sugarcane seed nurseries for the upcoming planting season. During the session, farmers raised several issues, and solutions were provided. In the meantime, sugarcane officials inspected the red rot disease and other pests and diseases in the sugarcane crops in Jalalpur, Bagrua, Takhatpur, and other areas. Many farmers attended the event.
