Chandigarh: Initiating agitation against the sugar mill over delay in pending cane dues, the sugarcane farmers blocked the Ludhiana-Sangrur road in Babanpur near Dhuri, reports Hindustan Times.
One of the protesters told reporters that the pending cane dues are to the tune of Rs 18 to Rs 20 crore and the mill owners are not paying their dues despite several demands hence they are forced to launch an agitation for their demand.
The police and the civic administration have initiated talks with the agitators to resolve the issue.
