Madurai: The Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Farmers Association expressed concern over permission granted to a movie shoot at the National Cooperative Sugar Mills at Alanganallur. According to The Hindu, the association has requested the Madurai District Collector to cancel the permission given for the shoot.
They alleged that the mill had security issues, with ₹1 crore worth of machinery having already been stolen from the premises. With no security personnel and a possible influx of a large crowd for the movie shoot, it raises the risk of more theft and damage to the mill.
It has thus called for a general body meeting to discuss such crucial decisions affecting mill operations and farmers’ interests. They feel it is highly irresponsible to permit a movie shoot without due consultation which would risk mill assets.
