Farmers should become “urjadata” along with being “Annadata” said Union Minister for Road and Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, reports Tribune India.
He was speaking at a gathering at Kutail village in Karnal on the occasion of the stone laying programme of the 35-km Karnal Green Field Six-lane Ring Road Project.
Addressing the gathering he said, “Farmers in the country are playing the role of anna data and the time has now come that they should become urjadata. They should grow energy-producing crops as we can produce ethanol from rice straw, broken rice, maize, bamboo, sugarcane juice and molasses. Farmers should focus on producing energy crops and use biotechnology to become energy providers.”
