Farmers should unite to form a government that would help in hiking cane prices to Rs 500 per quintal: VM Singh

Modimpur: Sardar VM Singh, the national president of the Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, has stated that by 2027, farmers should unite and ensure their government is in power, which would guarantee sugarcane prices of Rs 500 per quintal, reported Amar ujala.

He was speaking at the Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan’s ‘Hunkar Mahapanchayat’ held on Sunday at the Khanauda-Dhanju crossing on Sofipur Road. Addressing the gathering, VM Singh said that while there are ongoing movements for MSP, very few people know who first raised the issue and when. He recounted that he had launched a movement for MSP on October 20, 2000, when Ramprakash Gupta was the Chief Minister. Although assurances were given to end the protests, the demand for MSP was not fulfilled, and the struggle has continued since then.

MLA Atul Pradhan, who also spoke at the event, expressed solidarity with farmers, stating that he, too, comes from a farming family. Others present included Mintu, Deepak, Gulbir, Ramveer, Amarpal, Aapin, Dinesh, Bhupendra, Kailash, Upendra, Mukul, Shekhar, Veerpal, and Sandeep.
