Sugarcane farmers from Jagtial, Nizamabad and Nirmal districts launched a protest in Metpally of Jagtial district demanding revival of the Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited located in Muthyampet.
The agitating farmers organized a rally that began from Metpally agricultural market and reached to Shastri crossroads. The farmers urged the government to revive the closed sugar mill. The heavy police force was deployed at the spot to prevent any untoward incident.
The factory was set up in 1937 by the seventh Nizam closed operations in 2015 due to the financial crisis. The sugarcane farmers and the employees of the mill are since then agitating for the revival of the sugar mill.
