Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: The indefinite protest by sugarcane farmers and members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Tikait at the tehsil gate continued for the fourth day on Friday, reported Live Hindustan.
The protesters said that they would not end the protest until the government addresses the problems of farmers, including the payment of outstanding sugarcane dues.
In his address to the protesters, BKU district president Dinesh Kheda said that the outstanding sugarcane dues of farmers are still pending with the two sugar mills in the district, while other mills have paid the dues on time.
He also said that farmers are facing problems due to stray cattle, which damage their crops.
BKU leaders Kunwar Khusnud Noor Arif Ali, Rajesh Chaudhary, PK Verma, Shyam Sundar Tyagi, and Amjad Khan were present on the occasion.
