Roorkee: Sugarcane farmers have decided to organize Mahapanchayat if the sugar mill in the region fails to clear the pending cane dues.
Padam Singh Bhati, president of the Rashtriya Kisan-Mazdoor Sanghatan said that the Iqbalpur sugar mill has yet not cleared the pending cane dues.
Addressing the gathering of farmers at Iqbalpur, he said, “The sugar mill has been operating for the last three months but the mill has paid the bills of the cane crushed for only 25 days. The mill has not yet paid the cane dues worth Rs 150 crore for the crushing season 2017-18. We will organize a Panchayat if the mill fails to clear the cane bills of the farmers.”
