Garhmukteshwar, Uttar Pradesh: Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu group) has decided to gherao the Simbhaoli sugar mill on September 14 to demand pending cane arrears and others issue.
A meeting was held to outline the strategy for sugar mill’s gherao. Bhartiya Kisan Union has urged the cane growers to be present in large number to make their agitation a success.
Sugarcane farmers claim that they are suffering from the financial crisis as sugar mills fail to clear the cane dues. Whereas, mills assert that due to low sugar sales they don’t have enough finance to clear the arrears.
Recently, Uttar Pradesh’s sugarcane department has asked the sugar mills to clear the pending cane arrears on a priority basis. They also issued a strict warning to sugar mills.
