Mysuru: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and urged him to intervene for a higher State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane, reports The Hindu.
They informed him that they are agitating for higher SAP in Mandya since November 7, 2022, but there is no response from Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Badagalapura Nagendra, president of KRRS said, the farmers from across the state are agitating for higher SAP. He urged the Governor to advise the government on the issue.
Farmers are demanding SAP of Rs 4,500 per tonne for sugarcane as the cost of cultivation has been increased, he said.
