Engineers at the Rarawai sugar mill in Ba are expected to complete repair works on the machinery today, aiming to restore the mill to its full operational capacity, reported Fiji Village.
Permanent Secretary of Sugar Yogesh Karan confirmed to Fijivillage that disruptions at the Rarawai mill were due to technical issues. Karan mentioned that he had given the engineers a deadline of tomorrow morning to identify and rectify the problem to prevent future occurrences.
Karan stated that the future of the Penang sugar mill in Rakiraki remains undecided. The Penang Mill, which suffered severe damage from Cyclone Winston in February, has been closed for this season.
