The National Federation Party, Fiji has stated that there should not be any deduction from the final due payments to the cane farmers for the 2019 season.
According to the media reports, Davendra Naidu, Vice president, NFP said that the farmers should get the cane payment at $10.41 per tonne that will ensure that the farmers get the guaranteed price of $85 per tonne for the 2019 season. He stated that the correct amount is $10.41 and not $9.74 per tonne as the adequate amount was already deducted in May amounting to 67 cents per tonne as a contribution to the sugar research institute and other industrial sectors.
“Farmers should get their full due amount so that they could enjoy the Diwali festival,” he further added.
