Fiji records 40 per cent increase in sugarcane production

Graham Clark, Chief Executive, Fiji Sugar Corporation said, “The industry was brought to its knees post-Tropical Cyclone Winston and the sugar production had dropped to the lowest ever.”

Fiji worked hard and a lot has been done in the past years. He said, “The strategy of sugar marketing has changed over the period of time.”

Earlier Fiji was considered as the guaranteed market for the sugar with commodities getting good prices and the FSC did not have to do much in the market. But with the changed situation, we have to remain active in the market,” he further added.
