All three sugar mills are operating full to their capacity and their stoppages have been reduced significantly, said the Fiji Sugar Corporation in its latest update.
Despite the increase in the cases of burnt cane and poor harvesting methods the mills are running smoothly, said FSC.
The sugar recovery this season is better than in the last four years and the results so far are encouraging, it said.
It also stated that there is a need to improve the quality of the cane sent to the mill for crushing so that the season will end with good output.
The FSC has till September 19, produced 109,554 tonnes of sugar by crushing over one million tonnes of cane.
The Rarawai mill crushed 328,800 tonnes of the cane while the Labasa mill crushed 421,728 tonnes and the Lautoka Mill crushed 360,699 tonnes of cane during the review period.
